Between July 1 and August 6, 2024 , Bangladesh experienced a monumental uprising driven by widespread public discontent. What began as the Anti-Discriminatory Quota Reform Movement, calling for equal opportunities and fair treatment, quickly escalated into a full-scale protest against the long-standing authoritarian rule of Sheikh Hasina. Citizens, students, and workers took to the streets, demanding justice, reforms, and an end to the rampant corruption that had plagued the nation for years.
For 37 days, the movement united people across the country, fueled by powerful slogans, graffiti, and relentless protests. The demand for democracy and freedom reverberated through every corner of Bangladesh, challenging Hasina’s 15-year rule. Despite facing brutal suppression, including violent crackdowns, internet blackouts, and media censorship, the resilience of the people led to the eventual resignation of Sheikh Hasina. This marked the end of an era of authoritarian control and the reclaiming of Bangladesh’s democratic spirit.
